Be Strong and of Good Courage

3-30-02  Be Strong and of Good Courage

Friends and Family,

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."   Joshua 1:9 NIV

God continues to be with the Wombles and family.  His Presence has been so real and so tangible to all.  We are thankful His Strength and Courage is present to lean on, that He is with us and there is no need to fear or be discouraged.  For the Lord our God is with us...

Rees and Samuel during the night
We just had a shift change and Rees called with an update.  Rees was with Samuel from 5:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. this morning.  Rees was thankful that he was able to spend some time in prayer and read all of Joshua, Psalms 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150.  He said, "There are a lot of sermons in Joshua..."  :)

Samuel slept from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. with stirring approximately every 15 minutes.  Samuel is still hurting and itching all over.  Samuel is able to roll from side to side and "scratch" his head, eyes, ears, wherever he has discomfort.  During the night he moved his left arm and closed his fingers.  Praise the Lord for yet another answer to prayer.  The doctors had thought the brain injury affected the left side of Samuel's body, but he seems to have improved.  Praise the Lord for His Healing Touch!!!

Rees laughed while he told us about a dream Samuel had.  Samuel was talking in his sleep when he said, "Luke, get down.  Lukey, get down."  Rees said, "Samuel, are you having a dream?"  Samuel said, "Yes, Grandpa, I am having a dream."  Samuel couldn't remember anything about the dream when he woke up.  Rees also laughed about Samuel sticking his finger in his ear to scratch the ear and leaving it there for approximately 10 minutes while he slept. :)

Samuel asked for his Mommy and Daddy quite a bit during the night.  The doctor is arranging a visit for Cindy to be with Samuel today.  Jeff will be with him today and tonight.  Samuel has been drinking and is starting to eat more.  He is cognizant, alert and responding.  The family is very encouraged that he is healing and continuing to improve.

Day Two is a good report!  There are no signs of infection today.  Please continue to pray during this critical 10 day window that no infections develop. It is possible Samuel will be medically released to be transported via medivac back to the states at the end of this 10 day window if there are no further complications.  The Wombles WANT to get back to the States to be with family and friends and to have further medical treatments completed.  Please continue to lift Samuel in your prayers so this desire and prayer might become a reality!

Cindy
Cindy is continuing to improve daily.  She was with Samuel for two-and-a-half hours yesterday.  God is sooo Gracious - Samuel was calm and quiet during their entire visit...no yelling or crying.  She is hoping to spend time with Samuel every day now.  Please continue to pray for Cindy's body as she is not receiving any antibiotics at this time.  We are praying for NO infection to be present in her body.

Jeff
Jeff was able to get a long nap yesterday and then sleep all night.  He is feeling more refreshed and caught up on his sleep.  He will be taking the afternoon and night shift tonight. Jeff has many injuries that are not being treated until he returns to the states so that he might be available to his family during this time. Please continue to pray for Jeff that no infections are present.

Emily and Luke
Emily and Luke spent the night at the apartment with Jeff, Susan and Frankie.  They have had lots of fun with their friends the last few days. They are adjusting to the situation well.  Please continue to pray for them for emotional healing and comfort during this time of separation from their family.

Easter
The Wombles, family and friends over there are having a special Easter service tomorrow morning at the hospital.  Please remember them in prayer.  Rees seemed excited about the service they were planning.  We are thankful they will all be able to worship our Risen Savior together.

"Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord."  Psalm 150

Praise the Lord!
