FOREVER GRATEFUL

Dear Family and friends,

WOW! What an amazing journey we have been on the last few months! And it's not over! God has been so good to us, we could never be the same. I was reading Hezekiah's prayer in Isaiah 38 after he had been restored and given another 15 years of life; he said, "The Lord was ready to save me; Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments all the days of our life, in the house of the Lord." (v.20)NKJ That's the way we feel! We will walk humbly all of our days and be ready to speak of His goodness. We knew after a couple of days that this was more than a simple accident. After talking to Nick and Donna, I realized that God was using this for His Glory! I heard how Donna had been led to take a counseling course concerning an international trauma situation. She was prepared beforehand, just didn't know it would be for a family member. They read to us some of the wonderful e-mails while we were in the hospital. We were so moved and happy to hear that 1000's were receiving the same messages. I mentioned this as one of the many miracles at the National Day of Prayer service at our church. Everyone clapped and cheered as all were blessed by the inspiring e-mails. Some have said that they are now in withdrawals! We can give you some more items to pray about, but 1st let us tell you how grateful we are for your past prayers that helped carry us through. We have never been so peaceful in all of our lives! God's Grace IS sufficient in ALL of our needs. He is an ever-present help in times of trouble! We were so peaceful, hopeful, and even joyful, during this time. God comforted us and we felt and lived your prayers. I believe we were a testimony to all who saw us in hospitals and airports. God is so good-ALL the time! These days, Cindy and Samuel are both going to therapy 3 times a week. Samuel has physical, occupational (fine motor skills) and speech therapy at each session. His occupational therapists said she would suggest 6 months of therapy and if he progresses faster than that, then great. Cindy will have another operation on her leg in 4 weeks to remove the anti-biotic chain and to check the bone once more. If all is okay, then her leg will be closed to heal for good. Cindy and I will have surgery on our ears starting in a month or so, one ear at a time. So, we still have a ways to go to be 100%. As a family, we will see a counselor/friend at our church, Paul Weisemann. He married Cindy and I almost 14 years ago. We will also meet w/ a post traumatic counselor/professor that has been recommended to us. I think we are doing better than expected, by the grace of God. The only sign I see in the children is some fear of this happening again, usually it surfaces at bedtime. They are all sleeping in the same room now. Once they are asleep though, they are fine through the night. I have been reading a book on prayer that says, Jesus' main work now is intercession, He intercedes for what's on His Father's heart, the Holy Spirit touches/draws those who are available to join Jesus in His intercession. We have been greatly encouraged by the reports we have heard of people joining Jesus in interceding for us. Some of whom have never met us! Thanks for being available!

Forever Grateful,
The Wombles

P.S. It's GREAT to ALL be together again! We have been re-cooping(some) and getting adjusted here again. We've had some company and haven't been on the computer much; so haven't responded yet to your e-mails or letters. Please be patient w/ us.

3-27-02 From Cindy Womble

"Pray for Samuel as he will undergo serious brain surgery tomorrow at 9 a.m. (2 a.m. CST). Two places in the brain have become infected. Doctors must treat the infection directly without upsetting any of the good brain tissue. Pray for God's Hands to perform the operation. Pray for wisdom for the doctors. Pray for no permanent damage and that this will take care of Samuel's problems - the pain, the agitation, the constant crying. Cindy is better and continues to recover from an allergic reaction to the antibiotics and latex. Thanks for the continued prayer coverage."

"I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord ; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord , and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord , you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord . Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. The Lord redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him."
