Giving God the Glory

4-23-02 Giving God the Glory

Friends and Family,

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." I Corinthians 15:57 KJV

Cindy
Cindy expressed today how very, very good it is to be back in the United States. She is beginning to relax and feel some comfort in the anonymity she has been given. She said she could see birds outside her window and was able to just lie in bed and enjoy them. Prior to returning to the States, unusual noises and sudden movements, even as innocent as a bird in flight, have created fear and anxiety for her. God is healing Cindy - physically, emotionally and spiritually.

We need to ask for fervent prayer about the infection in Cindy's leg. The surgery on Sunday revealed the bacteria cultured in Europe is still present in Cindy's wound. This particular bacteria could be extremely serious if it were to spread. The doctors are treating her with antibiotics, but we need the Divine Healer to touch her and kill this bacteria.

Cindy is doing so well. The bones are healing. Her body is getting stronger. She has come so far in her recovery process. Please pray for another miracle with this infection. If the infection is not brought under control, she will undergo yet another surgery on Friday. She has been poked and cut and stitched so many times now. Cindy is ready to be still and rest. Pray for a miracle. Pray no future surgeries will be required.

The next step in Cindy's recovery involves intensive physical therapy. She has been immobile for five weeks and her body is weak. The doctors now have her leg attached to a continuous passive motion machine that bends the leg to a 45 degree angle 3 times a minute. She is glad this is being done, because the leg was beginning to get stiff. Please continue to keep her in prayer for pain, infection and complete healing.

Samuel
Samuel's recovery is progressing remarkably. The neurosurgeon has indicated some concern about the presence of infection still remaining in his brain. Samuel is on an IV antibiotic that penetrates the brain membrane to combat the infection. Please continue to pray against any and all infection in his body.

Samuel will undergo intensive physical therapy for the next six weeks. He is still a little wobbly, but is getting stronger daily. His desire to walk and be whole again is evident in how quickly he is progressing. We are getting excellent reports. We are very proud of him.

Pray for Samuel to be receptive to the physical therapists, cooperate fully with the exercises and to be able to understand how much these therapists and the medical staff do care, even at his young age. He too is tired of being sick, being in the hospital, getting shots...not exactly the kind of attention a seven year old boy wants. Pray for Samuel to be full and completely healed.

Jeff
Jeff is doing well. He is still weary, but is now getting some much needed rest. He indicated it felt really good to be back in the States. His heart was full of gratitude for the trip home, the anonymity, and all the support and love of friends and family. Please pray for continued strength, complete healing and peace for Jeff.

A Praise Report
John Russell and Debbie Weiseman held a press conference yesterday to answer questions prompted by the media and to release a statement from the family. They were able to stress the importance of the Wombles' location remaining undisclosed, the need of the Wombles to have time alone to recover and become a family again, and the medical issues that lie ahead for the family.

Friends, it is a miracle! We are praising the Lord at how well the media handled the press conference and the news coverage. ALL reports last night were positive, handled very respectfully, were uplifting to God and the family, and were compassionate toward the need of the family to not reveal their location. The reporters seemed willing to wait to push for interviews until Jeff and Cindy are ready. God is definitely answering prayers!! We have watched so many miracles with the media during the last five weeks. We have seen Scriptures quoted, medical progress be identified as miracles and our God be glorified in reports. God answers prayer!!!
Thank you, John, for your effort in trying to ensure our God is glorified in print and on the screen.

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21 KJV

Giving God the Glory,
Nick and Donna Nickerson
