Our Prayer is God would be glorified...

God's Peace Passes All Understanding

4-11-02  God's Peace Passes All Understanding

Friends and Family,

"Be careful for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus." Phillippians 4:6-7 KJV

God's Peace does "pass all understanding." Walking this very bumpy road has been a testimony of His Peace. We are so very thankful for His Peace, His Grace and His Mercy. We are also thankful for His Healing Touch...we stand, sit and kneel in awe of all He has done and continues to do daily. We are thankful for all of your prayers and support. Your prayers have been felt...

Today we bring you good tidings with great joy...

Cindy
Cindy is feeling much better. Praise the Lord!!! Her pain level is down. In fact, she reported she is almost pain free. She was able to spend 2 hours with Samuel this afternoon. The medical staff wheeled her down to his bedside. Mom and son enjoyed their time together.

Cindy will not be able to walk again until they remove the drains, which should occur on Saturday. She is eager to get up and moving around, so please pray there are no complications. Continue to pray for her quick recovery and that she would be infection free. Her doctor indicated if all goes well, she may be able to be released soon to return to the States. Pray this will be the case.

Samuel
According to Rees, Samuel is doing "marvelously." They played catch this morning. Grandpa Rees tested Samuel's throwing arm and catching ability from all directions - left, right, long, short. Samuel did well. They also reviewed Samuel's baseball cards and Samuel corrected Grandpa several times. Grandpa will need to study if he is going to keep up with Samuel on baseball. :) Grandpa and Samuel had a great time together this morning. We rejoice in the blessed time they were able to have.

Samuel stood up a couple of times today with the physical therapist. He was actually able to stand on his own for a few seconds. He is reluctant to put weight on his right leg, but the therapist did get him to do it. Standing on his own is another first for Samuel and another tremendous miracle to thank God for!!

Rees said Samuel is gaining strength. The physical therapist wheeled Samuel over to the window to look at some demolition taking place outside. He said, "I want to play outside with Emily and Luke." So, tomorrow, the family and medical staff are attempting to arrange an outing for Samuel. They will take him outside to visit with Emily and Luke. Pray this will happen. It will be good emotionally for Samuel, Emily, Luke, for the whole family.

The neurosurgeon is very pleased with how well Samuel is doing. He indicated Samuel could be released to go to the States soon. The plan is Samuel will be medivac'd to a hospital in the States at an undisclosed location and resume his medical care on our soil. Samuel told the doctor today, "I want to go home to America." Their return drawing near is very encouraging to the entire family. Continue to pray they will all be home soon. We have some tired and weary caregivers over there.

Jeff
One of Jeff's wounds has become infected. Pray his body will be able to get rid of the infection and for his continued healing.

Emily and Luke
Emily and Luke hope to see Samuel tomorrow. They are excited to get to see him. Pray it will work out and that they will all have a great time together. They were able to visit a museum today. We are thankful for the little blessings God gives them day by day.

Helping Hands
Uncle Wendell is returning home tomorrow. Keep him in your prayers throughout the day for traveling mercies. Rees said they were all VERY blessed by his coming. His being there allowed them to get a fresh breath to enable them to finish the job. Thank you, Uncle Wendell!!! Thank you to Aunt Kathy and the rest of the crew for sharing him.

Pray for Rees, Frankie, and Susan as they continue to care for the Wombles. Their spirits are high, but they are READY to come home. Pray the details will come together for a speedy return to the States.

Updates are now being posted at our web site for Homeward Bound Ministries, www.hbm4him.org/Womble News/index.htm. All past updates can be viewed there as well. For those of you who have never seen the Wombles, a family picture has been posted on this site. We are also in the process of setting up a board for you to post messages to the Wombles. Please visit the site and post a note of encouragement to the Wombles and Nickersons. We have made arrangements for the postings to be printed off and delivered to the family daily. Hearing from YOU would be an encouragement to them in what we hope is the last leg of the overseas part of this marathon. Thank you for your continued prayers and support...

Resting in His Peace,
Nick and Donna Nickerson
