High and Lifted Up
4-6-02 High and Lifted Up
Friends and Family,
"What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?" Psalm
116:12 KJV
Another day of the Lord's benefits towards us...
Cindy
Cindy continues to improve daily. Her hemoglobin count continues to rise which
is helping her "feel" better. Her body is healing. She is getting stronger. She
is able to visit with Samuel each day. This is comforting for both of them. Pray
for her strength to continually increase. Please continue to pray against
infection entering her body. Please continue to pray for a complete healing for
Cindy - physically, emotionally and spiritually. Pray for a "peace that passes
all understanding" as she walks the long road of recovery ahead for her.
Samuel
Samuel is improving daily as well. His pain has subsided a great deal,
especially in his stomach. He is eating well and all of his bodily functions are
working properly and on their own. He still has lots of aches, but is much more
comfortable than he was. The physical therapist is working with Samuel daily.
The family has been very pleased with the therapy being received.
Jeff spent the night with Samuel last night and spent the day with him today.
His report is "Samuel is feeling better today." According to Jeff, the external
brain swelling appears to have gone down. Please pray with us a CAT scan can be
performed tomorrow. One is scheduled for next week, but the family would like to
know what is going on in Samuel's head. CAT scans are not normally performed on
Sunday, but this seems to be an issue for the family. Please pray the medical
staff will make an exception.
Uncle Wendell (Dr. Nickerson) has indicated Samuel's outbursts and reactions are
very normal with a head injury the magnitude of what he has experienced. Uncle
Wendell believes we are heading in a good direction with regard to Samuel's
medical condition. We are still in a marathon, with a long way to go, but we are
making progress. What a comfort it has been to all of us to have Uncle Wendell
there giving us his medical insight! Thank you to all who played a role in
getting him there.
The language barrier continues to be an issue for Samuel. This has been a
difficult and frustrating issue for everyone. Please pray they will all be able
to return to the States soon.
Emily and Luke
Emily and Luke are doing well. They played "huggy buggy" this afternoon with
Grandpa Rees, Grandma Frankie, Grandma Susan and Great Uncle Wendell. How do you
play? The adults stand around in a circle and a "tag game" of sorts is played.
The children are passed from adult to adult for some "huggy buggy." They had
loads of fun!!
Emily and Luke were able to see their Mommy today. We are sensing a real relief
in the stress of the family, from the youngest to the oldest. God is answering
prayers!! We were pleased to hear that while Jeff stayed with Samuel and Cindy
at the hospital today, the rest of the family went for a ride around the area.
It was good for them to relax and breathe a little. Twenty-one days is a long
time to be on an emotional roller coaster. Praise the Lord for the "little
break" for them today.
Special Prayer Requests
Tomorrow morning at 5:30 a.m. CDT, the family is attending a local Church
together. It will be the first service Jeff, Emily and Luke have attended since
the attack. Prayer Warriors, please lift them up to the Lord during the service.
Our prayer is the Peace of God will fill that place and overwhelm their spirits.
We pray Emily and Luke will feel as if they are sitting in the laps of Jesus as
they sit in their pews. Pray for Cindy as she awaits their return in her
hospital room. This is a big step for the entire family. Your prayers are
coveted.
Jared, Molly and Peter Joseph left for home today. Please be in prayer for
traveling mercies for them. Thank you, Jared and Molly, for coming, for helping,
for being a blessing. We love you and will miss you.
Words alone cannot express the intense emotions that have lingered in our hearts
since March 17. One thought has remained a comfort and a constant for us...God
is still on His Throne. We pray each of you will be able to see God high and
lifted up, exalted, and seated on His Throne. Have a blessed Sunday tomorrow. As
you enter your House of Worship, please thank the Lord for all He has done...
"...Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of Hosts: the whole earth is full of His
Glory." Isaiah 6:3b KJV
All for Him,
Nick and Donna Nickerson
