Samuel Awakes
3-23-02 Samuel Awakes!
Friends and Family,
Samuel awakened fully today. The doctors have removed the feeding tube so he is much more comfortable. Rees said he can talk and hear with no apparent
problems. God is soooo Good!!!! He woke up saying "I want my Daddy, I want
to see my Daddy." They sent for Jeff and he came to Samuel. Samuel told
Jeff about his bad dream and was able to express his thoughts clearly. He
talked quite a bit. PTL!!! This is great news. Rees did indicate Samuel
was very tired and weak, but improving minute by minute. Samuel is sleeping
now. We will continue to update you as to what the next steps will be.
Thank you, Father, for waking up Samuel and allowing him to talk with his
Daddy. Thank you for the touch of Your Healing Hand.
Emily and Luke were able to go in to see Samuel today. Even though it is
strictly against hospital policy, the doctor allowed it. He checked them
thoroughly for fevers, chicken pox, etc., then allowed them to enter. The
three children were thrilled to be together once again. Frankie reported
they had a good visit. Samuel very bewilderedly said, "Luke, you are sooooo
small." The adults smiled and one reminded him that Luke is just a little
boy. Samuel is seeing, but it has not been determined how well yet. His
hearing seems very normal.
Cindy is doing a lot better. Rees said she looks wonderful. For those of
you who don't know, Cindy has not been able to be with Samuel since they left
the scene of the attack. Even in the air ambulance, she apparently did not
have access to him, and he was fully sedated. She cries every time she talks
about him. The separation has been very difficult for her. The family has
been trying extremely hard to work it out for her to be able to visit him.
Well, the doctors have indicated they may be able to put her in a wheel chair
and take her to Samuel TODAY!!! Another prayer incredibly answered! Thank you, Lord!!!!
Jeff is continuing to improve. He is still a patient missing from his room
most of the time, but his soaring spirit is seeing him through. He has been
at Samuel's side all day basking in his son's breaths, words and smiles.
Rees and Frankie are doing well. Rees said he finally SLEPT last night but
is still very tired. Frankie stayed with Samuel last night, so she is
exhausted. Keep lifting them up to the Father. They will both spend the
afternoon at the apartment today to get some rest. Jeff is with Samuel and
our friend has arrived safely. She is with Cindy helping to meet her needs.
In fact, Rees reports Cindy is not letting her out of her sight. :) Pray
for her family as she will be with the Wombles through the weekend. Thank
you to her family for allowing her to give in this way. God bless you!
There is a chance the long extended stay the doctors were predicting could be
shortened considerably due to their rapid medical progress. We are all eager
to have them home. Please pray their bodies will continue to heal and we can
all be reunited soon. We believe there is only one word to explain all that
has happened since the attack last Sunday -
M I R A C L E
"Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord!!!!!"
