Samuel Knee Surgery
3-25-02 Update from Jeff
Friends and Family,
UPDATE FROM JEFF -
The doctor's have made the decision they must go ahead with surgery. They will
use general anesthesia for the surgery. They will make a small incision with an
orthoscope, remove the shrapnel, clean the wound and wash it out. They have
indicated it may take more than one surgery to get the infection under control.
Surgery will take place in the next few hours...as soon as a surgical room can
be made ready. Samuel's knee has been swollen for a few days. This morning Rees
said, "It busted open and fluid started draining from it." It is a source of
extreme pain for Samuel. Pray the surgery will reduce the pain, infection will
all be removed and Samuel will get some relief. Continue to pray for the family.
Hearts are full....
A special prayer friend sent us this passage this
morning. We have pasted it below. It is really ministering to all of
us...thought we would share it.
Psalm 57 ~
"Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,
for in you my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.
I cry out to God Most High,
to God, who fulfills his purpose for me.
He sends from heaven and saves me,
rebuking those who hotly pursue me;
God sends his love and his faithfulness.
I am in the midst of lions;
I lie among ravenous beasts -
men whose teeth are spears and arrows,
whose tongues are sharp swords.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens'
let your glory be over all the earth.
They spread a net for me feet -
I was bowed down in distress.
They dug a pit in my path -
but they have fallen into it themselves.
My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.
Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!!
I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens'
let your glory be over all the earth."
We pray You will be exalted, O God, and that Your Glory
will be over all the earth.
We will continue to send updates as received. Thank you
again for the love and support...
Dwelling in the Shadow of His Wings and praising Him
among the nations,
Nick and Donna Nickerson
