Our Prayer is God would be glorified...

Sunday Morning with the Wombles

3-24-02  Sunday Morning with the Wombles

Friends and Family,

One week ago today, around this time, Rees and Frankie got that first phone call. The phone rang and Rees answered it. Frankie heard, "Yes.....yes....yes....this is Rees Nickerson....yes, I am the father of Cindy Womble...yes...."

We have seen the miraculous Hand of God reach down out of Heaven and leave His Fingerprints virtually around the globe since that first fateful phone call. We want to ask if each of you wherever you may worship Him this morning would lift praises up to our God for the great and mighty things He has done. We are humbled to have walked in His Presence, awed to have seen what He has accomplished this week, blessed to be called His Children and honored above all honors to call Him our God.

Jeff
Jeff is doing well this morning. His mother Susan Womble has arrived and is with him now. She is the help we told you would be arriving. Please continue to keep Susan in your prayers. She has been traveling since early Saturday morning and is physically exhausted. We will update you further once we have talked with her personally. Thank you to her friends who made this trip possible. Getting her there was a miracle ONLY God could accomplish. A passport in less than 24 hours is not an easy task in the current security environment!! God is good. We will share the details with you as soon as we can.

When asked about his condition, Jeff said, "Oh, I'm real mobile." We laughed. He said he is trying to be good, but wants to be with Cindy and Samuel and feels he needs to be helping with everything. He said to tell you, "Our prayer is God will be glorified through all of this." He thinks at age 40 that "he just grew up this past week." He is looking forward to being home and having the opportunity to be a husband and dad again. He feels their family has grown in incredible ways walking through this, and that there is a new and fresh love between all of them. He is excited about life to come. He is excited to watch and see how God might use all of this to bring people to know Him better. Jeff had a very special day yesterday. He was with Samuel from 8 - 5. He really enjoyed the time in the room with Samuel. Jeff has lost a great deal of hearing through this, but we are trusting God for a complete restoration of his hearing. He is spending time in the Word and spending time trying to learn a few words in the language of the country he is in. They did find a piece of shrapnel is Jeff's thigh yesterday and will be doing x-rays to determine what course of action to take.

Cindy
Cindy is awake this morning and sounded very good. The doctor was just in with her. They changed the bandages and compresses, and removed the drip lines. There are no signs of infection!!!!! The doctor said her color looked much better. They are giving her iron to help increase her blood count.

Her friend Elizabeth who is there helping was just arriving at the hospital and Cindy was excited to see her. Please keep her in your prayers during her time there. She has already helped tremendously to uplift and encourage the family. Cindy said it has been an incredible blessing to have her there. Pray for strength, grace and rest as she helps minister to the Wombles. Please continue to lift Elizabeth's family up to the Lord during this time of separation. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Samuel
Samuel's nurse said, "Samuel drank a LOT." Apparently, Samuel loves apple juice! He also ate a little yogurt, then asked for some breakfast. He is alert and doing better. The nurse also said that it hurts a little for Samuel to open his mouth and that he can't open it very wide. Please pray the discomfort will go away quickly.

Emily and Luke
Emily and Luke are with their Grandma this morning. Cindy said Luke is VERY interested in knowing all about what is going on.

Overall, everyone is doing very well this morning. We praise the Lord for this good report!

Psalm 67 "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him."

Thanking Him for His Faithfulness,
The Nickersons
