With God Nothing Is
Impossible
4-15-02 With God Nothing Is Impossible
Friends and Family,
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!!
Samuel's CAT scan was excellent!!!! He is being prepared for release to the Land
of the Free and the Home of the Brave, where hot dogs, baseball and apple pie
are a favored Womble pasttime. We are excited! We are ecstatic!! We are
thrilled!!! We are happy!!!! We are...hopefully getting the point across...
Samuel had a wonderful night's sleep. He slept for 3 - 4 hours at a time.
Grandma Frankie took him to see his Mom this morning. They had a great visit.
Today he was able to play "Huggy Buggy" with his grandparents and siblings. Rees
helped Samuel to walk to each person to get a hug so he could play too. He was
pretty tired when the game was over, but his little cup was full. Smiles and
laughter bubbled from his heart.
Samuel is beginning to deal with the emotional trauma he has experienced and is
really expressing some "frustration" with his medical condition. Please be in
prayer for the counselors who will work with Samuel when he gets Stateside. Pray
for wisdom, patience and godly counsel. This little guy has a long road ahead of
him. Pray God will continue to work miracles on his behalf.
Samuel keeps telling Grandpa, "Grandpa, I want to walk. Grandpa, I want to run.
Grandpa, I want to play." Our prayers are one day he will be saying, "Grandpa,
watch me walk...watch me run...watch me play." Pray God will make a way....
Grandpa Rees will be taking the night shift tonight. Please keep Rees in your
prayers. He is sick - sore throat, feeling horrible, has a fever. He is really
feeling the pressure of all of this. He has carried and sacrificially given so
much. Please pray God will sustain him and help him to get through the next few
weeks. His presence and strength will be desperately needed during the
transition to and upon arrival in the States. Please ask a special blessing on
his company for allowing Rees to be free to be with the Wombles. We know this is
a sacrifice many employers would not have made and we are thankful for all they
have done.
Cindy's leg is better today. The antibiotics seem to be working, and there has
not been a reaction. Thank you for the prayers! Cindy is still in a lot of pain
from this past surgery. The doctors are now ready for her to start exercising
and walking again. The drainage is less but the doctors feel like the wound
needs to be cleansed again. So they have proposed an additional surgery. The
family is asking for the surgery to wait until we get them back to the States.
Cindy desperately needs emotionally to be returned to the States. Pray everyone
on the medical team will see the big picture and cooperate fully with each
other.
URGENT PRAYER NEEDED
We do not know how to verbally convey to you how important it is for the Wombles
to return to the States right now. The caregivers are weary and ready to give
out. Extensive counseling is needed for all involved. The family needs to be in
the States so they can receive the type of medical care they are more familiar
with and accustomed to. The family needs to get home where they have a support
group and reinforcements can be brought in to help. Trust and fear issues need
to be resolved, and that would be best addressed in the States. Samuel needs to
be in a truly English-speaking country where he can comprehend what is being
said in order to reduce stress and frustration to his already injured brain and
state of mind. Samuel's neurosurgeon feels he needs psychiatric care, but has
indicated he wants it done in the States. These are only a few of the reasons why
we feel returning them to the States is imperative for their healing process.
Friends, please pray all involved with making this decision will work together
to expedite the family's request to be returned to the States. Pray they will
keep first and foremost in their minds a "whole health philosophy" with regard
to the next step for the Wombles and the rest of the family. We are trying to
organize a return to the States rather quickly. We can not ask enough that you
be in prayer for all the details to work out. Medical care, security issues and
transportation details need to be coordinated. We need your prayers...we trust
God and know He can work it all out.
"For with God nothing shall be impossible." Luke 1:37
Thank you for standing with us in prayer, in support, in encouragement, in
friendship. We continue to stand on His Promises, His Love and His Mercy.
Walking in His Grace,
Nick and Donna Nickerson
